Alexis Sanchez is attempting to force Arsenal into doing business with Manchester City by demanding high wages from Bayern Munich, according to reports.

The Sunday Mirror claims that the Chile international is asking that the German champions hand him a contract worth £420,000 a week – a deal which would break their current wage structure.

Bayern are said to be ‘shocked’ by Sanchez’s demands and believe that the 28-year-old is intent on joining up with Pep Guardiola at City.
Arsenal are holding out for a £50 million transfer fee for Sanchez but Arsene Wenger has publicly insisted that the club will not sell the forward this summer.

Arsenal are prepared to offer Sanchez a £300,000-a-week deal but City would be able to match that package.

Earlier this week, Sport Bild claimed that Bayern are effectively out of the race for Sanchez due to his wage demands and are already looking at signing alternatives.
Sanchez, who has only one year remaining on his contract with Arsenal, is currently with Chile’s national team for the Confederations Cup, although he is set to miss his nation’s opening game against Cameroon on Sunday with an ankle injury.
‘Alexis had some health troubles a couple of days ago and, on Friday, we decided we would let him rest,’ said Chile boss Juan Antonio Pizzi.
